MONDAY, DECEMBER 7, 2015
ALEXANDRIA, VA – Senator Katrina Shealy (R – Lexington) has been selected to serve in leadership for the nation’s oldest non-partisan organization addressing the needs of elected women at all levels of government.
Senator Shealy was recently appointed to serve as a 2016 Regional State Director for the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL).
“I am honored and excited to be appointed to this position within NFWL’s leadership and to help my colleagues in the Southern Region learn about this great organization. This opportunity aligns perfectly with the mission of encouraging more women to step in to elected leadership roles.” said Shealy.
Elected women from across the country will gather in Orlando, Florida from November 16-20, for NFWL’s 2016 Annual Conference to identify effective solutions to some of the nation’s most timely and pressing issues. Providing a non-partisan environment that encourages dialogue and the sharing of information and experiences, women leaders are able to build coalitions, share the concerns of their constituents, and identify out-of-the-box solutions to the most pressing issues facing their communities today.
“We are so proud Senator Shealy has accepted a leadership position in our Foundation,” stated the Chair of the NFWL. “She will play a key role in aiding women legislators in the Southern Region, as we grow as an organization.”
Shealy begins serving in her new position immediately, and will hold this office through the 2016 year.
